We have been receiving a lot of inquiries from our community regarding protests. We want to share as much information with you as we can without compromising the safety plan we have in place. Here are some of the questions we have been receiving along with our responses:

1. What are you doing to keep everyone safe?

Our deputies are highly trained and are prepared to respond to any situation. We are also working closely with our law enforcement partners with the Naples Police Department, Marco Island Police Department and the Florida Highway Patrol. Our goal is to protect people’s right to peaceful protest while ensuring the safety of our community.

2. Why don’t you stop these protests?

The right to assemble and protest peacefully is protected in the First Amendment to the Constitution. In fact, our mission statement reads as follows: “The duty of the Collier County Sheriff's Office is to preserve and protect the lives, property and constitutional guarantees of all persons.”

3. Why don’t you announce the locations of upcoming protests on your website?

We know it takes all of us working together to evoke societal change, but these are not our events to publicize. However, we want you to know that we are closely monitoring developments and have plans in place to keep all of Collier County safe.

4. We are worried about riots and looting. What are you doing to prevent that from happening?

We know that our community does not want us to tolerate criminal activity, violence or disorder. This is reflected in our safety plans.
