The Collier County Sheriff's Office is looking for positive, proactive, energetic, enthusiastic individuals that support our core principles of community, safety, service to fill the position of Communications Equipment Specialist. Starting salary at $30.85 per hour.
Minimum Requirements:
- Minimum of two years' experience in supporting communications systems in public safety or emergency services environment.
- Minimum OPAC score of 80% and Wonderlic score of 18.
- Ability to type 25 correct wpm.
- Associate's degree or a comprehensive representation of equivalent work-related experience in Electronics, Telecommunications, or Information Technology preferred.
Position Requirements:
- Knowledge of public safety communications theory, radio and telecommunications principles, and applicable regulations.
- Ability to maintain inventory accounting records and other administrative record.
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
- Work flexible hours/days when needed to complete assignments or respond to emergencies. To include after-hours support.

- Experience coordinating with vendors, manufacturers, carriers, and service providers to support public safety communications systems. .
- Experience administering, maintaining, and troubleshooting mission-critical communications systems, including but not limited to VoIP, PBX, Radio, Dispatch-Related, and supporting infrastructure
Examples of Duties:
- Install, maintain, update, and troubleshoot landline phones, and other communications related equipment.
- Provide technical support for radio systems, dispatch related equipment, telephony systems, and associated infrastructure.
- Diagnose system outages or degradations, determine root cause, and implement corrective actions to restore service in a timely manner.
- Maintain accurate inventories, databases, and records for radios, communications equipment, system configurations, and assignments.
- Review and process invoices received by vendors.
- Serve as technical liaison with vendors, carriers, manufacturers, and stakeholders to ensure reliable operations of communications systems .
