The Collier County Sheriff's Office is looking for positive, proactive, energetic, enthusiastic individuals that support our core principle of community, safety, service to fill the position of Cadet. Starting salary $23.20 per hour.

Under general supervision, the purpose of this position is to prepare a non-certified applicant (Cadet) for a career in law enforcement.  While in the program, a Cadet will participate in formal and in-house training in three (3) distinct positions for a specified time as outlined below.  In order to advance, a Cadet must receive at least a “Satisfactory” rating on the performance evaluation for the specific position.  Upon successful completion of all phases of the program, the Cadet will be given options for continued employment.  The length of the program is three (3) years.

 

Minimum Requirements:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Ability to work shifts, including nights, evening and weekends.
  • Possess a valid drivers license.

Example of Position Duties:

  • Control center operation.
  • Maintain safety and security.
  • Maintain electronic post log.
  • Facilitate inmate movement.
  • Provide information to the public
  • Monitor/respond to dispatch and calls for service
  • Monitor and report road/traffic conditions and hazards
  • Direct traffic flow
  • Investigate non-police actions calls (stranded motorists, rescue calls, etc)
  • Operate telephones
  • Prioritize calls
  • Route calls to the proper authority
  • Receive and enter complaints into the CAD system
  • Process request for house checks/extra patrols
  • Shift work required.
