In 2010, Collier County had the lowest crime rate of any metropolitan county in Florida. Among all 67 counties in the state, only 11 had a lower crime rate than Collier, and the majority of those counties are in rural areas.
Crime rate is calculated per 100,000 residents and includes part 1 crimes reported to the Florida Department of Law
Enforcement. Part 1 crimes are violent crimes and property crimes, consisting of homicide, sexual assault, robbery,
aggravated assault, burglary, theft and motor vehicle theft.
