Twenty-seven members of the Collier County Sheriff’s Office were certified in a four-week training session to act as U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents.

The CCSO is the only agency in Southwest Florida, and one of a few in the nation, to have deputies trained to help immigration agents.

The training makes it easier for CCSO members to recognize and detain illegal immigrants discovered in the county.
