Sketch Released Of Suspect Who Grabbed Child In Golden Gate

The Collier County Sheriff’s Office has released a composite sketch of a man who grabbed a 3-year-old boy by the hand and led him away from his family in Golden Gate on Sunday.

CCSO is hoping the public can identify the suspect.

Detectives said the suspect is described as Hispanic, in his 50s, 5 feet 8 inches tall and 180 pounds with salt and pepper hair and brown eyes. He was wearing jeans and a button-up black and white plaid shirt.

Detectives also released a photograph of a shirt similar to the one the suspect wore.

Suspicious Incident Involving Child In Golden Gate

Detectives are investigating a report of a suspicious incident in which a man attempted to lead a 3-year-old boy away from his family in Golden Gate on Sunday.

Detectives said the boy and his family were taking pictures behind Church of God Naples, 11965 Collier Blvd., around 2:30 p.m. when a man whom they did not know approached the boy. The man took the boy by the hand and attempted to lead him away. 

A family friend saw the incident occur and intervened, causing the suspect to let go of the child and leave the area.

The child was unharmed.

The incident was not immediately reported to law enforcement.

An investigation is underway.
